Digital Marketing for Small Business UK

We're a UK digital marketing agency for small businesses that want senior people running the work, not juniors learning on the account. Paid search, paid social, SEO, content - managed in one place, measured in revenue, priced as a transparent fixed monthly fee. Free audit before you commit. No backlink upsells, no contract lock-in.

What we do

  • Paid Search & Shopping

Google Ads structured around how your customers actually buy. Tight match-types, full conversion tracking, weekly waste sweeps, Performance Max done with deliberate signals, not as a black box.

  • Paid Social

Meta Ads built around real audiences. Creative, copy and offer-stack rotated based on actual performance. CAPI server-side tracking is the default, not an iOS-14 upsell.

  • SEO

Technical, on-page and content SEO. Strategy informed by what your customers search for, not by keyword-stuffing. Schema, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, kept healthy, not audited annually.

  • Content & Email

Articles that earn rankings, pages that earn conversions, lifecycle emails that earn repeat orders. Briefed against keyword data and customer intent, not generated in bulk and shipped untouched.

  • Analytics & Reporting

GA4 set up properly, conversions wired to your CRM, server-side tracking where it earns its keep. Monthly reports written by a human, what moved, why, what's next. Not a dashboard screenshot.

  • One Team, Every Channel

No agency-hopping between specialists who never speak. The same senior people who run your paid campaigns brief your SEO content and wire your tracking. Channels coordinate; reporting actually adds up.

How an engagement actually runs

Most digital marketing engagements start with a 30-minute "discovery call" and end with a slide deck quoting a £3,000/month retainer. Here's the actual rhythm of working with Peak Digital.

  1. Free audit (week 0)

30+ point review across whichever channels you currently run, Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO foundations, GA4 setup, conversion tracking, landing-page CRO. We tell you what's broken, what's working, and what budget tier the work is genuinely worth. No commitment.

  2. Scoping call + fixed-price quote (within 48 hours)

After the audit, a fixed monthly fee sized to the scope and channels we'll run. You know the budget before any campaign is built. No hourly rates, no scope-creep invoices.

  3. Foundations (month 1)

Tracking wired correctly, account structures cleaned up, baseline reporting set, weak campaigns paused, strong ones funded. Most accounts find recoverable revenue in this phase that justifies the first quarter.

  4. Continuous attention (month 2 onwards)

Daily account checks, weekly creative rotations, monthly reports written by a human, quarterly strategic reviews. Issues caught the day they appear. The work doesn't lapse over half-term, holidays, or sick days.

Why digital marketing is broken for small businesses (and what we do differently)

Most UK small businesses pay agencies that do one of three things wrong. The cheap end (£300-£500 a month) is a junior templating reports against your account; nothing structural ever changes, the rankings never lift, the ad spend leaks. The boutique London end (£3,000-£8,000 a month) is a partnership pitch from a strategist who doesn't open the platforms, the work goes to an offshore team you'll never speak to. The middle is mostly silence: an account manager who emails you on the 28th of the month with a Looker Studio link and a sentence that says "great month, looking strong for next month."

Peak Digital is a different kind of agency, built around what AI can actually do. Senior people on every account. A custom AI agency operating system handling the volume work that most agencies either can't keep up with or charge a premium to do. Same monthly fee tier as a small two-person agency. Output ratio of one many times its size.

For a UK small business, what that looks like in practice: every account gets daily attention, not monthly review meetings. Issues get caught the day they appear, a creative that's stopped converting, a Google Ads quality-score drop, a Search Console alert, a category page that lost a position overnight. Reports go out monthly, written by the same person who shipped the work, not generated by a dashboard. When channels need to coordinate, paid driving SEO learnings, SEO surfacing remarketing audiences, content feeding email, they do, because one team is running all of them.

What we don't do: backlink building. The agencies offering £300-a-month "SEO with link building" are reselling cheap PBNs that get penalised in the next core update. Genuine link-building costs more than most small business budgets allow on its own, and is better outsourced to a specialist outreach shop if you specifically want it. We earn links by publishing content worth linking to and fixing the technical issues that keep good content out of the index. More on the SEO retainer.

What we will tell you, plainly: paid channels only earn their place once there is enough budget behind them to gather readable data. The cost of running them properly outweighs the revenue at that scale. We'd rather tell you that on the audit call than take your money for an engagement that can't pay back. SEO and content compound at lower budgets and are usually the right starting channel for a small business with a tight first-year budget.

Sectors we work in

We are a general digital marketing agency rather than a single-sector shop, but the accounts we run best are the ones where we already understand how the customer buys. Travel and tourism is the clearest example. Booking windows run to months, demand is seasonal, and paid search has to hand the visitor over to email and remarketing rather than close the sale on the first click. An agency that treats a two-month consideration window like an ecommerce checkout will burn the budget before a single booking lands. That is the thinking behind our digital marketing for travel and tourism work, and the same shape applies across hospitality and leisure, where the number that matters is direct bookings rather than sessions: hotels, holiday lets, event venues and restaurants and cafes.

Elsewhere we run regulated and professional services, where compliance shapes what the ads can say and trust does most of the converting: law firms, accountants, clinics and practices and insurance brokers. We run local service businesses, where the whole game is capacity and lead quality rather than reach: garages, cleaning firms and landscapers. And we run longer-cycle B2B and education accounts, where a lead is a conversation rather than a transaction: manufacturers, logistics and 3PL firms, private schools and universities.

If your sector is not on that list, it is not a problem. The channel work is largely the same. What changes is how much of the free audit we spend understanding your buying cycle before we recommend where the money goes.

How to choose a digital marketing agency

Every UK digital marketing agency looks much the same on its own website. Everyone is data-driven, everyone is a partner, everyone has a proven process. Five questions separate them quickly, and you can ask all five before you sign anything.

Who actually does the work? Ask for the name and the seniority of the person who will be in your Google Ads account on a Tuesday afternoon. If the pitch team and the delivery team are different people, you are buying the pitch team and getting the delivery team.

What happens between reports? A monthly report is a record, not a service. Ask what triggers someone to look at the account in week two. If the honest answer is nothing, you are paying for a dashboard.

Who owns the accounts and the assets? The ad accounts, the creative, the audiences, the tracking and the content should be yours from day one, in your billing, on your domain. Agency-owned assets are a retention device, not a service model.

What will they refuse to sell you? An agency that says yes to every channel at every budget is not being helpful. Cheap link building, paid social on a budget too small to gather readable data, and a fourth channel before the first three are working are all things a good agency should talk you out of.

What does the exit look like? Ask for the notice period and what you leave with. Thirty days and everything, or a twelve-month term and a migration fee, tells you how confident they are that the work will keep earning its place.

Our own answers, in order: a senior operator, named before you sign. Daily attention, with issues caught the day they appear. Everything is yours, in your billing. We do not sell backlink packages and we will tell you when paid channels are the wrong investment at your budget. Thirty days notice and you take the lot. If you are still working out what the job even covers, what a digital marketing agency actually does is the longer version.

Frequently asked questions

How much does digital marketing cost?

There's no flat number, digital marketing scope varies too much by channel mix and media spend. After the free audit we scope the work and quote for it, because every brief is different.

Which channels do you cover?

Google Ads (Search, Shopping, Performance Max, YouTube), Meta Ads (Facebook + Instagram), SEO (technical, on-page, content, local), content marketing, and email/CRM lifecycle. We don't run TikTok, LinkedIn or X ads as standalone offerings, they fit best inside a broader paid-social mix when the audience genuinely lives there. We don't sell influencer marketing or affiliate programmes.

How long until I see results?

Paid channels move fastest, fixes to a leaking Google Ads or Meta account typically show in conversion data inside 30 days. SEO compounds from month three onwards as new content ages, internal links accumulate, and Search Console rebuilds click-through data. By month six most accounts are showing meaningful traffic and pipeline lift. Anyone promising page-one SEO results in week two is selling you something else.

How is this different from a single-channel agency?

Single-channel agencies optimise their channel, then point at the next channel and say "not my problem." When channels need to coordinate, and they do, constantly, you end up paying three agencies, getting three reports that don't add up, and refereeing handoffs yourself. Working with one agency that runs Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO and content under one team means the channels actually feed each other: paid surfaces SEO opportunities, SEO content feeds remarketing audiences, email re-engages the cohort paid acquired.

Do you do backlink building?

No, and we'd rather be honest about that than sell you something we don't believe in. The agencies offering £300/month link packages are reselling cheap PBNs that get penalised in the next core update. Genuine link-building costs more than a small-business marketing budget allows on its own. We earn links through publishable content, fixable technical issues, and the natural digital-PR moments your business creates. If you specifically want a paid-link operation, you'll be happier with a specialist outreach agency.

What size businesses do you work with?

We work best with UK small and medium businesses generating roughly £25k/month in revenue or actively investing in growth at that scale. Below that, paid channels are usually the wrong investment, the cost of running them properly outweighs the return. We'll tell you that on the audit call rather than take your money for an engagement that can't pay back. SEO at lower budgets compounds usefully and is often the right starting channel.

How is reporting done?

Monthly reports written by the same person who shipped the work, not generated by a dashboard. Each report covers what we did, why, what moved, what didn't, and what we're doing next. Quarterly we layer in a strategic review across the whole channel mix. You also get a live look at the dashboards we use day-to-day if you want it. No padding, no "strategic narrative" filler.

Is there a contract or lock-in?

No. 30-day notice and we go separate ways. The accounts, creatives, audiences, content and tracking we build all stay yours. No clawbacks, no "agency-owned" assets, no migration fees. We don't believe in retention through contracts; if the work isn't earning its keep, you should leave.

Can you take over an existing account?

Yes, and most of our clients arrive that way. The free audit is designed exactly for this, we'll show you what's working in the existing account, what's leaking, and what we'd change in the first 90 days, before you decide. Onboarding starts only after you've seen our take and agreed to the scope.

Do you white-label for other agencies?

No. Every account is direct with the client. We've found white-label work compromises the parts of the offer that actually matter, direct access to a senior operator, transparency on what's running, the ability to push back on bad ideas. If you're an agency looking for a fulfilment partner, we're not the right fit.

Do you work with travel and tourism businesses?

Yes, and it is one of the sectors we know best. Travel buys differently from most of what an agency sees: the consideration window runs to months, demand is seasonal, and the job of paid search is usually to start the relationship rather than close it. That means the budget has to survive long enough for email, remarketing and content to do the converting, which is where most travel accounts leak. We run the same for hotels, holiday lets, event venues and restaurants. If you want the detail before you talk to us, our guide to digital marketing for travel and tourism agencies covers the approach.

What should I ask a digital marketing agency before hiring them?

Five things, and you can ask them all on a first call. Who specifically will be in the account, and how senior are they. What triggers someone to look at the account between monthly reports. Who owns the ad accounts, creative, audiences and tracking when the relationship ends. What will they refuse to sell you at your budget. And what is the notice period. Vague answers to any of those usually mean the pitch team and the delivery team are different people. Our answers are on this page, above.
