What we do
-
Shopping & Performance Max
Merchant Centre feed audited, taxonomy aligned, disapprovals cleared, GTINs and brand attributes populated. PMax with deliberate asset groups and audience signals, not a one-click black box pretending to be strategy.
-
Search & Brand Protection
Non-brand Search targeted at product and collection landing pages, not the homepage. Brand campaigns to stop competitors poaching trademarked traffic. The Search work most ecommerce agencies skip because Shopping is easier to bill.
-
Display, Remarketing & Customer Match
Remarketing segmented by cart abandonment, product view, category browse and past-purchase recency. Customer Match for VIP and lapsed-buyer segments fed back into Google. Display where it earns in-market reach, not vanity impressions.
-
YouTube & Video
Placement-led video campaigns built around product demos, founder stories and use-case content. Optimised to view-through conversions and assisted revenue, not gross reach.
-
GA4 + Enhanced Conversions
Ecommerce data layer wired up cleanly. Enhanced Conversions with hashed customer data passed back to Google. Server-side GTM where it earns its keep. Offline import for any phone or returning-customer revenue. Numbers the algorithm can trust.
-
Landing Page CRO for Paid Traffic
Most ecommerce accounts leak in the PDP, not the ad. We test PDP variants, collection layouts and dedicated paid-traffic landing pages. CRO is bundled into the retainer. The page and the ad are one system.
How an ecommerce Google Ads engagement actually runs
Most agencies pitching ecommerce Google Ads sell you a Shopping feed and a Performance Max campaign and call it a strategy. Here's what proper full-funnel paid looks like on an online store.
-
Free ecommerce Google Ads audit (week 0)
30+ point review across your specific platform: account structure, Merchant Centre feed health, conversion tracking, ecommerce data layer integrity, PDP and collection page performance, current campaign type mix. We tell you what's wrong, what's working, and whether your AOV and margin actually support paid scale.
-
Foundations (weeks 1 to 4)
Merchant Centre feed corrected (GTINs, taxonomy, disapprovals, image quality). Conversion stack rebuilt: GA4, Enhanced Conversions, server-side GTM where it earns its keep. Brand Search live. Account structure tightened. Most accounts find enough waste in month one to fund the first quarter.
-
Full-funnel rollout (month 2 onwards)
Non-brand Search to product and collection pages. Shopping and PMax with deliberate audience signals. Remarketing segmented by behaviour. Customer Match for VIP and lapsed segments. YouTube and Display layered in when AOV and margin support it. No campaign type added without a hypothesis we can measure.
-
Review, refine, scale (quarterly)
Monthly reports tied to attributed revenue. Quarterly strategic review on creative, audiences, the offer, and whether the campaign mix is still right for the season. A real human, not a templated PDF.
Why the platform changes the playbook (and why it doesn't)
The fundamentals of ecommerce Google Ads are the same across every platform. Account structure. Match types. Conversion tracking integrity. The campaign-type mix matched to your funnel. Creative that earns the click. None of that changes whether you're on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento or a custom-built stack.
What does change is the platform-specific plumbing, and the plumbing is where most agencies quietly fail. On Shopify the Google channel is native and clean but the default GA4 integration is only partially wired; Enhanced Conversions rarely get configured properly without intervention. We've written a dedicated Shopify Google Ads page covering the platform-specific work there. On WooCommerce the Merchant Centre feed depends on a plugin (CTX Feed, Product Feed Pro, or one of the native Google Listings & Ads extensions), and the conversion tracking depends on whether the store is using GA4 via Google Site Kit, GTM, or one of the WooCommerce-specific tracking plugins, each with their own quirks and double-counting risks. On BigCommerce and Magento the data layer is configurable but rarely configured correctly out of the box. The work is similar, the wiring is different.
The other thing that changes is the campaign mix relative to your margin and AOV. A £30 AOV fashion store and a £4,000 AOV furniture store need very different Google Ads strategies even though both are "ecommerce". The £30 store lives or dies on Shopping efficiency, Customer Match retention, and aggressive Remarketing. The £4,000 store leans heavily on non-brand Search to capture considered-purchase intent, YouTube for long-cycle awareness, and Search for the high-intent brand-comparison queries. We don't run the same playbook on both.
Performance Max is a powerful campaign type. It also concentrates spend into a single algorithm-driven black box where you can't see which placements, audiences or creatives are doing the work. PMax has a place in the mix on almost every ecommerce account. It's rarely the whole mix. Our CRO work is bundled into this retainer because most ecommerce accounts leak in the PDP, not the ad. The page and the campaign are one system.

Frequently asked questions
Which ecommerce platforms do you support?
All the major ones: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, plus custom-built stacks (headless React/Next.js front-ends with Shopify or BigCommerce as the back-end, custom Laravel/Django/Rails stores). The fundamentals of ecommerce Google Ads don't change by platform. What changes is the conversion-tracking plumbing and the Merchant Centre feed setup, both of which are platform-specific. We've worked across the lot.
Do you have a dedicated Shopify Google Ads service?
Yes. Our Shopify Google Ads page covers the platform-specific work in depth: Shopify-to-GA4 integration quirks, Enhanced Conversions setup, Merchant Centre feed via the native Google channel, and PDP-level CRO. The same fee structure. The Shopify variant exists because Shopify is the single most-asked platform in our quote inbox, not because the work is fundamentally different.
What about WooCommerce specifically?
We run WooCommerce Google Ads under this same engagement. The platform-specific work on WooCommerce: choosing and configuring the right Merchant Centre feed plugin (CTX Feed, Product Feed Pro, or Google Listings & Ads), wiring the GA4 ecommerce data layer cleanly through Site Kit, GTM or a WooCommerce-native tracking plugin, and managing the duplicate-tracking risks that come from running multiple plugins that all want to fire purchase events. There's no separate WooCommerce page because the demand pattern is small. Buyers searching for ecommerce paid services don't usually qualify by platform until the sales conversation.
How much does ecommerce Google Ads management cost?
The same structure as our general Google Ads retainer. No setup fee, no contract lock-in, 30-day notice.
Do you set up the Merchant Centre feed?
Yes. Most ecommerce accounts we audit have a feed with disapprovals, missing GTINs, broken or oversized images, or taxonomy gaps that cap delivery. We audit the feed against Google's specification, fix the structural issues directly in the platform (or via the relevant feed plugin where required), and resolve any policy disapprovals before any Shopping or PMax spend goes live. Part of the retainer, not a setup fee.
Do you fix the ecommerce data layer and GA4 setup?
Yes, and it's one of the first things we touch. Most ecommerce accounts are optimising against partial or double-counted conversion data, the algorithm is doing its best with a signal that's missing 20 to 40% of purchases. We rebuild the conversion stack: GA4 ecommerce events, Enhanced Conversions with hashed customer data, server-side GTM where it earns its keep, offline import for phone or returning-customer revenue. Once the data is honest, the campaigns optimise to the right thing.
Does this include landing page CRO?
Yes. Our CRO work is bundled into this retainer. PDPs, collection pages, and dedicated paid-traffic landing pages are tested and iterated as part of the engagement. Most ecommerce accounts leak in the product page, not the ad.
Do you handle Customer Match and email-list re-engagement?
Yes, as part of the engagement. We segment your customer base (VIP, lapsed, recent, browse-no-buy) and feed those segments into Google as Customer Match audiences for both Search and YouTube. Repeat-purchase and lifetime-value gains compound with new-customer acquisition. Leaving Customer Match on the shelf is one of the most common waste patterns we see in audits.
Do you also run Meta Ads for ecommerce stores?
Yes, separately. Our Facebook Ads service uses the same fee structure. Most ecommerce scale plays end up running Google plus Meta together: Google captures demand, Meta creates it. We can manage either or both, and the two campaigns talk to each other in the planning.
Do you build the creative for the ads?
No, creative production is not included. Most ecommerce clients already work with a designer, a content agency, or in-house team for product photography, lifestyle imagery, and video. We brief that creative work and feed the assets into the campaigns. If you don't have a creative partner, we can recommend specialists we trust, and the audit will flag whether your current creative is a bottleneck on performance.
How long until I see results?
Initial waste cuts (negative keywords, broken match types, feed disapprovals) typically lift performance within 14 to 30 days. Compounding gains land over 90 days as Quality Scores improve, the algorithm accumulates clean conversion signal, and the full campaign mix beds in. Your free audit will give you a realistic read on your specific account, your seasonality, your AOV, and your margin profile.
Are there long-term contracts?
No. 30-day notice and we go separate ways. The Google Ads account stays yours, all campaign data, audiences, conversion history, plus the Merchant Centre work, GA4 configuration, and any landing pages we built. We don't believe in retention through contracts. If the work isn't worth the fee, you should leave.
